The Hemisferic features a large-format cinema (IMAX) and digital projections, including astronomical representations and entertainment shows.
Designed by Santiago Calatrava, it features an ovoid roof of over 100 meters long and a large sphere that constitutes the projection room.
The building is meant to resemble a giant eyelid that, along with its reflection, creates the illusion of an eye as a whole.
Visitors have the option to buy a separate ticket for one of the Hemisferic’s projections or a combined ticket that also grants access to other areas of the City of Arts and Sciences. The main themes are usually astronomy, history and nature.
The Hemisferic was the first of the buildings of the City of Arts and Sciences to open its doors to the general audience, in 1998.
During the Summer, kids can play inside water balls right there on the lake which surrounds the building.
