Valencia’s City Council wants to encourage equality during the popular Fallas celebration with “positive and non-prohibitive actions”.
In the words of Isabel Lozano, Councilor for Equality and Inclusive Policies: “We want to make the role of women visible in all areas of the festival and not just focus on the Fallas monuments”.
Apparently, they would issue a list of “non-macho” songs for the festival, in addition to a series of recommendations on the representation of women in the monuments.
Fallas-related events start at the end of February and end with the big night of March 19. For more info on Valencia’s most popular event, don’t miss the Fallas page!
