Valencia’s famous City Hall Square (located right in front of the City Council, hence its name) is going to be pedestrianized. The idea was first brought to the table in the 80’s but this pedestrians dream was never fulfilled.
When mayor Joan Ribó took over, he was determined to make City Hall Square a car-free space, so he stated that every last Sunday of every month, the square would be only for pedestrians. It’s been that way since November 2015.
Now, the project is once again being considered and the square could be pedestrianized permanently starting in 2018.
