It has taken more time to reconstruct it than to build it, but now, finally, the Palace of the Temple will reopen its doors.

There have been several reasons for the delay, including archaeological findings and structural problems, and it’s taken more than ten years. Sadly, some parts have also been destroyed.

The complex consists of the convent, school, and church of the Order of Montesa, popularly known as Palacio del Temple for having belonged to the Templar Order. Built between 1761 and 1770 by order of Carlos III, in neo-classicist style after an earthquake devastated the previous monastery, it was declared a Site of Cultural Interest on December 22, 1978.

The building is located in the heart of Valencia (2 Plaza del Temple). Its reopening is scheduled for 2018 or 2019.
