Corpus Christi festivity in El Carmen

Sixty days after Easter, Spaniards celebrate Corpus Christi (literally, the body of Christ). But even though many Spanish celebrations are related to religious themes, some are also a great opportunity to walk around the city and have some fun while you watch (or join) the festivities.

First celebrated in 1263, this year the Corpus Christi festivity will be held from the 26th to the 29th of May, mainly in the El Carmen neighborhood.

On Sunday, it starts at 12pm with the Cabalgata del Convite parade, followed by several dancing performances, the Carriages Parade at 4:30pm, and ending with the Solemn Procession at 7pm.
