Fallas Republic

Feb 28, 2019

During the times of the Spanish Second Republic, Valencia’s Fallas experienced an authentic golden age. With the arrival of the new democratic regime, the celebration -which in the 1920’s had already become the largest Valencian festival, capable of gathering the unanimous support of citizens- achieved previously unseen quotas, such as the consolidation and expansion of Fallas Week, the appearance of its Central Committee, and a fusion of fiesta and valencianidad, that is, to take part into a festive event that, at the same time, honors the sentiment of feeling Valencian.

An ideal exhibition to check out at the Ethnology Museum if you visit Valencia during Fallas.
