During the month of July, Valencia’s City Council organizes an annual fair called Gran Fira de Valencia (Great Valencian Fair) to bring cool activities such as a traveling amusement park and open-air concerts to both locals and tourists.
The first fair was hosted on July 21, 1871. In 1891, the locally famous Battle of Flowers was created, taking place since then every last Sunday of the month in the Alameda zone around 8 pm.
Open-air concerts are usually held at Viveros (Royal Gardens), and City Hall Square is the place to be if you want to enjoy typical fireworks shows, although the main event, called Night at the Sea, featuring a mix of fireworks and music, is held at the Marina.
Finally, the Great Night of July (this year, on July 20), offers free entrance to museums from 8 pm till midnight, as well as free concerts every 30 minutes at El Carmen neighborhood.
